IRVINE, California, July 10, 2017 – McDermott & Bull, one of the largest executive search firms within the Hunt Scanlon Top 50 Recruiters list, as well as one of Forbes’ Best Executive Recruiting Firms, is pleased to announce the successful appointment of Rick Smith as Chief Operating Officer with Hoffman Southwest Corporation (HSW), a company providing water flow solutions to various end markets.
This executive recruiting engagement was conducted by Chris Bull, Managing Partner; Rob Gross, Associate Principal Consultant; and Laurie Henderson, Recruiting Consultant at McDermott & Bull. According to Bull, “Rick is experienced in on-demand distributed work forces, understands the flexibility one must operate under in emergency businesses, and is keen on staying in front of customers to grow the bottom line. We look forward to seeing him thrive at HSW.”
Following an active deployment in Iraq with the Marine Corps, where he led platoons of over 100, Smith had an opportunity to join SourceOne. In his first few weeks as an Assistant Controller, he was tasked with the integration of Johnson Controls bolt-on acquisition. Following Veolia’s strategic acquisition of SourceOne in 2007, Smith was a key player in the post-acquisition integration and growth of the finance & accounting function. Due to this success, in 2010, Veolia management handpicked him to lead and launch the company’s West Coast operation. Most recently, Smith served as VP of Operations of the company’s Southern California territory.
Smith received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University and his MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
