Theron Makley is a Principal Consultant and leader of the firm’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Practice Group. He also heads the Denver office, which is focused on helping clients find sustainability-oriented management teams.
Makley’s previous role was as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at an agricultural lighting company focused on improving productivity and sustainability for facilities such as Cal-Maine, Sanderson Farms, and Perdue. His focus on placing executives to lead high performing teams has been honed by over 20 years of management experience in the technology sector. Makley is skilled at identifying key talent that meets both the technical and cultural needs of a company. He has personally hired, organized, and led impactful, purposeful teams across a wide range of companies from startups to multi-billion dollar international businesses.
Sustainability and the efficient use of resources have been key areas of focus for Makley throughout his career. His professional experience with energy-efficient solid state lighting, particularly LEDs, brought him into the Energy Services sector that helped him expand into renewable energy. Makley believes this experience will be valuable in helping this sector expand and qrow its executive ranks quickly as it ramps up to help eradicate greenhouse gas emissions
Makley has been active on multiple fronts in the Greater Denver area, attending and working with renewable energy and sustainable water projects, including volunteer work with the Denver Sustainability Council. Additionally, he shares his skills and gives back by mentoring younger companies through Innosphere’s SAGE Advisory group, as well as advising startup CEOs in the Denver 101010 Health initiative.
Makley has an MBA from the University of South Florida, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
